Hungary is famous for its fantastic salami and also Hungarian goulash is known far beyond the country’s borders. You can buy one of the delicious salamis.in the big market hall. The most famous brands are “Pick” and “Herz”. Consider the import regulations if you want to take a salami back home. Within the EU, you can take them with you (but it’s best to check again that regulations have not changed in the meantime). Outside of the EU, check if your destination country allows the import, so that your salami don’t let you end in a lot of trouble.
In the market hall you will also find plenty of paprika, which you will need if you want to make that delicious goulash at home. There are also various goulash creams and chili spices to buy. If you are traveling with hand luggage only, consider the restrictions on liquids and creams.
Next to butchers, there are also a few fruit and vegetable stalls in the market hall. On the lower floor you will find fish and 1-2 souvenir stalls and a food discounter (Aldi). The upper floor is filled with souvenir shops.
Keep in mind, that you need to pay in cash in all the tiny shops.
