The Parliament building is probably the most famous and magnificent building in Budapest. A great photo opportunity by day and night as well as from the inside and outside.
The building is located on the eastern side of the Danube. The best photo spots are on the other side.
By taking the local transport the best is to go out at “Batthyány tér”. Here you have the photo motive right in front of you.
Is it worthwhile to visit Parliament from the inside? Absolutely. Although there is the possibility to buy tickets on site, I recommend to buy the tickets online beforehand. Otherwise you cannot be sure that you still get tickets. The tour is available in different languages and at different times.
At the beginning you go through a security check, similar to the check at airports. Therefore leave everything except of the camera in the hotel, that makes life much easier. During the tour you are allowed to take pictures. An exception is the Stephans crown (royal crown), which you can admire during the tour, but where you are not allowed to take pictures. The price for EU citizens including fees is less than 10 €, for non EU citizens it is just below 20 €.
The tour takes about 45min. This is not very long and it is actually quite fast, how you go through the building and you have only little time for photos. It’s worth it anyway.
More information and tickets for a visit can be found on the website of the Hungarian Parliament. The website is only available in Hungarian or English, but guided tours are also available in other languages.
