Stargazing

Easter Island stargazing

Easter Island is one of the most remote places in the world and a great place to watch the stars. Thousands of kilometers away from any major cities and therefore a low light pollution, let the stars shine bright. Although the glow of the only city in Hanga Roa can still be seen in the dark from the other side of the island, it is even darker in the city than in many other places in the world. Sit on a benches by the sea or pick a shady spot and enjoy the starry sky. Even the Milky Way is visible within the city. The photos shown below were all taken within the city. The Moai in the photo is located on Ahu Riata directly at the small harbor Hanga Piko. The picture of the sea and the pure starry sky were taken just in front of my hostal Tojika.
